first off, i hate the republican party,
honestly, probably more than anyone else
on this board. but how is that dirty money?

secondly, he should refuse money? i don't
agree with that, no matter the source. if it helps
nader get elected and basically destroy the
republican party, then that's the funniest thing
the republican party has ever funded. now that's
an extreme example and not likely to happen,
but the more votes that nader gets, the more
likely that we will have an independent candidate
in the debates, in office etc sooner rather than
later.

also, let's assume it was dirty money for
the sake of argument. why should it be
refused? should the republicans use it to
help bush get re-elected then? why not accept
the money? it says nothing about nader nor his
morals or ethics.

yeah, definitely a friendly discussion. :D

It's not a competition, we can all hate the Republicans the same. ;)

it is just a matter of principal for me

kind of like excepting money from major corporations, what have you(enron, nra, etc etc)

i, personally just don't agree
it cheapens nader's stance for me, i otherwise have a fairly high opinion of nader

here is an analogy--perhaps???

if my family was murdered, and i was offered help by some sort of group, ummmmmm
let's just say the mofia or something like that(just think of a group of people you despise)
i would not except their help on the principal of who they are

i would be so hell bent on finding the murderers myself that i would not need their help

i think nader, if he was that determined, does not need their money

i except your opinion, i still think nader is one of the best candidates, but i just feel differently......
i was dissapointed :(

mmm, i don't know...i don't see
why anyone's view of nader would
be lowered by this...he has never
said he would never accept republican
money if given. should we base it solely
off who is giving it? should he not accept
money from any republicans at all or
just republican entities? if i registered
repub, he shouldn't take my money?

as for the family analogy, i still think
you should take the money. any money
you don't take from the mafia is just going
to be used to further their own ends, which
might be killing another family. capiche?

if you used the money to shut down the
mafia, then i think anyone would agree
that it's worth taking the money?

also, just a side note, i like to see
that this thread has returned to its
topic - republicans for nader. hahaha.

So the analogy is, should Henry Rollins should do a Gap ad or not? Some people say he's a sellout, but Rollins says he's just taking easy money from the corporate world and re-investing it as he sees fit.

Why would Nader turn down money to espouse his views? A dollar is a dollar. The bills in your wallet at one point could have been used to lure an underaged hooker into the back of a van for a violent gang rape, or might have bought crack for a pregnant woman. Bottom line is right now it's still your dollar to choose where to spend.

If I absolutely hate someone, and I take their money, and then I use it to cause bad things to happen to them, then what have I condoned? I have condoned their misery and/or downfall. It's not where you get the money that matters, it's where you spend it that really counts. I understand the idea that you would never condone certain things, but I don't believe taking unearned money from a cause or group you do not support is wrong. It actually hurts the group, so wouldn't it be right?

wow, that's rad!!!!!!!!!!!! are you gonna vote that way????

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not. But yes, I will vote libertarian. I agree with the majority of their viewpoints. I believe I differ in many people on this board in the sense that I do not agree with the democratic agenda of social support. I believe the government should stay out of absolutely anything it possibly can. The government should only exist to perform essential functions, like national defense. And even with national defense, they should defend us, not initiate conflicts all over the world under the guise of spreading democracy.

Reverend Al seems to be coming up pretty high on a lot of lists. I'm surprised, it almost makes me want to see what he's all about. The only problem is his formal title: Reverend. That automatically disqualifies him in my book.
