maybe it's like that everywhere, i don't know. but it's still ridiculous.
yeah.. we're pretty damn low..
national > Turnout in midterm elections is far lower, peaking at 48.7% in 1966 and falling as low as 39.0% in 1978,1986, and 1998 remaining below 50% in midterm elections (see Graph). Even at its highest level in 1960, the percent of eligible Americans who turned out to vote never surpassed 65%. This is still substantially lower than in almost all established democracies; turnout is 70-75% in Canada and well over 80% in most other democracies, including 86.8% in the first round of the French presidential election and 91.7% in the 2004 proportional representation election for Luxembourg’s legislature.

didn't see nearly enough of these this time around..

well it's not looking good. the other guy got the "hey, can we run a background check?" email and i didn't..
so...
i get an instant message yesterday afternoon from the manager of the dept i applied to get in to. he said to call him a bit later in the day to talk about the position. knowing that the other guy was already offered the job, i had written down a bunch of followup questions as to why i didn't get the job. so i call up and they tell me that during the hiring process, a second position opened up and they'd like to offer me the job.. with a huge pay increase. it's still the shittiest shift imaginable but the manager advised me that it likely won't be that way for long. but that they couldn't guarantee that. anyway, i accepted and they informed me today that they're having a team building event tomorrow and they can get me in to it if i wanted.. it's here: http://www.bondurant...chool/index.php needless to say, i'm going. then a nice lunch after that and that's my day of work tomorrow. ha ha
so yeah.. quite the up and down and up again couple of weeks. i'd pretty much told everyone i didn't get it and got all the "aww.. that sucks man" replies. so now i get to go back and say "psych!"

I'm in Seattle. A couple nights ago I was in a bar and mike mccready (pearl jam) and duff mckagan were on stage covering led Zeppelin and iggy pop songs with a bunch of other local musicians.
that is indeed awesome.
had a blast in flagstaff. steve martin and the steep canyon rangers were downright amazing. steve's comdey in between songs was perfect. just the right mix of wit and amazing musicianship. i STRONGLY recommend seeing them should they come through again. the weather in flag was awesome and we stayed with my gf's cousin and her boyfriend in an awesome cabin/house out of town and cruised some hills/trails in this utv razor thing he's got that was pretty bad ass.

and round two today. meeting a director and a vp.
that is always a good sign. always. good luck.
thanks!
well i don't think i could've given a better second interview. i think i did an awesome job really. although i did see who i was up against for the job. dude is a product specialist and really knows his shit. to be honest, it's cool just knowing that i was in such good company. if i didn't get the position, i would understand why. having said that, though, i think i did a pretty solid job and stand a good chance of getting it. they didn't say when they'd have a decision, though. *fingers crossed
