Take it for what it is, which is just my opinion,
but I think the reason people take such offense
to your comments is that you sound condescending.

I think everyone needs to learn to take anything said
on this or other boards with a grain of salt.

There are people's opinions that I value & respect, and people's who I don't, i know Mancopter, Bobby, CaptHFC, Krispi, Woodman, Something Else, DharmaBum, unluckycharm......when I piss them off, I'm concerned....(expect for, well, you know who you are)...these people I know, in varying degrees, and if I really was being a dick, I'm sure they would be delighted to tell me so.

what never ceases to amaze me is how often this group of talented, smart, funny, nice, and interesting people manages to allow themselves to be baited into arguing on a message board.  i mean seriously!  ninjas, please!

After having been involved in a few of these and having read many more, I think what's more surprising to me is how uncomfortable a lot of people get when an arguement breaks out. There's always a slew of posts in these threads where people try to call the arguers off and get everyone to 'get along' and be silly. I've grown to like an occasional drama thread, as long as it doesn't break into name-calling and people who refuse to use PM when it gets out of hand. Some good back and forth is healthy once and a while.

I'm with everyone that said HFE comes off condescending (a nice way of saying like an ass) quite a bit. At first I felt that way too. What I like about him is that he doesn't take things personally and is very responsive and civil when you call him on his tomfoolery. I find it entertaining to spar with him a little bit.

Robofish, on the other hand, is my sworn enemy.

I can't wait for Friday when I get to meet all these people (that I haven't already met) in one place. Do I get the cordial brush-off greeting cause I'll probably be hanging out with Aaron? Only time will tell.

More seriously, on the Minibosses: I suppose it's natural that some people (and I'm not naming names) have an aversion to them for a few reasons, none of them musical. Getting national attention and accolades (like SXSW) for what some see as a gimmick will inevitably cause some jealousy and backlash. Also, video game fans have always been an easy target for people to tease and talk down to, even for hipsters or whatever group each PHX Shizzster thinks he or she belongs to. Having long standing friendships with the band members, I can very honestly and genuinely state that they are very good and true people who do what they do because they love making the music and being the Minibosses. There's no 'let's milk this gimmick for all its worth' attitude and it's important for them to be involved with other local musicians. As for the bossies, I've met many of them in person and with very few exceptions, I have to say that they are very nice, non-fake, loyal people who just want to have a good time with what they love. Just this month I've gotten unexpected xmas gifts and well wishes all over, and it's really quite touching. They don't deserve to be picked on because what they love happens to be considered geeky by the mainstream. I'd ask that people consider that before making any blanket judgements or statements. </rant> (edit: I mean this as more food for thought than any kind of attack on individuals. If you feel it applies to you just think about it. I'm not trying to antagonize.)
