This is The Shizz.
Chromelodeon manages to get all the furniture from their hotel into the lake a few years back...and people are worried about shizzies?

I scanned but saw no mention of a few bands I thought I'd add because they sorta begat yours truly. I'm 26 and have lived in Tempe all my life, so maybe I can fill a couple unique gaps.
Back in the mid-late 90's there was Dozer and Rondo Vega, both of which featured Ryan Richardson and Spencer Heck. Ryan Richardson went on to play in a band that performed in my dorm my freshman year of college at ASU, hahaha. Spencer ended up in a band with my brother, Drew Henschen in the late 90's, early 00's called Fatal Blowout. They played a number of shows at places like Modified (thus my first time there) and Nita's Hideaway.
I can remember them playing with the Apologies (from Tempe) because the Apologies had a female in the band and I thought that was cool. Both bands also lived on the same street: 10th place near Casey Moore's. I know that Fatal Blowout also played with Swearing At Motorists (not from AZ) at some point as well as an early Brodie Foster Hubbard who turned out to be a mutual friend of my friend from college, Steven Reker (who I'm sure you know from Reindeer Tiger Team and, most recently, dancing for David Byrne).
Fatal Blowout changed their name to the Crucials, then split up when Ben and Spencer moved. Ben and Spencer currently reside in Chicago and are in a band called Busted Canoe.
I tracked unstable keyboard melodies with my brother in the Fatal Blowout house from time to time, which is when I came up with the name Jumbo Jr., which I would later use from 2005-2008 when I started actually playing music in front of an audience.
-Lauren (currently known as So And So)
i vaguely remember Rondo Vega. didn't they have a practice space in one of the storage units near Alma School and Main st? i think i shared a unit with them among others. or perhaps it was someone else. damn, can't remember.

Please remember to send your band info to the email address.
Also, email us if you are going to help w/ the install, and let us know if you'll be bringing any merch/memorabilia to donate for sale.

Found this thread while searching online for 'Blofiche'! I played drums in 'Counter Punch', 'Blofiche', 'Stand To Reason' (unfortunately after Rick, the original drummer passed). Also played in a side project called 'Beans and Rice' with Kevin Carl from 'G-Whiz' and more. Kevin is still playing and writing, has a new studio venture with Duane from G-Whiz on bass, Ken from 'The Tank' on vocals and Bill Stevenson (ALL, Descendents, Black Flag on drums) called 'Higley'. Check them out on myspace and listen to the tunes at:
http://www.myspace.com/higleyband
I also made a myspace page for 'Stand To Reason', which has the last CD, all 6 songs, released in 1995, here:

Lastly, the last 'Counter Punch' record can be downloaded as mp3's here:

I'm trying to get a hold of Jesse Everhart and Lacrosse to see if they want to re-record the 'Blofiche' songs for fun!
This thread has been dead for awhile, anyone there?!!

Kevin and I would like to arrange a reunion show for all the older bands, anyone interested?!

The first bands I remember specifically are probably Major Lingo, The Fake McCoys, and Mumbo Jumbo with Greg Simmons. I played every Wednesday at Long Wong's the summer of '94 in "Jake De Snake". Tripod Dog opened for us sometimes. Chris Skowron played sax for Jake before I was in the band and he went on to play with Rusty Jones and Warsaw. He plays in the Midnight Blues Band now. I was at one of Kongo Shock's first gigs at the old Party Garden. I remember seeing Jesus Chrysler's "band members needed" ad on the bulletin board at the old Musicians Discount in Mesa on Broadway and Dobson. Yes, I am old.
