Damn this is a great thread. I think this is wonderful. We are talking about what we can do, and not bickering about what needs to be done.

Bobby, your posts are great, and I agree totally with what you are saying. Everyone can see this by the way and not just shizzifiend members. Chris from Daughters of Fission and I are looking at starting a list of all the things to do in the phoenix area, but adding that to a zine would be awesome as well. The idea of a zine came up awhile ago but I have not been able to find the resources to do something like that.

I think what hayley is doing is great, and especially now in tempe where alot of underage college kids want to go check out shows, and having a local section there will go over better then at the biltmore (that's just my opinion though)

I think (hope) that we are finally coming together, not that we weren't before, but it seems like we are all working towards the same goal which is to help "The Masses" come out and see good music. Let me know what you guys need from me. I am now in a situation where I am going to be able to do alot more things then I was before.

yeah, that about says it... there've been some astute observations littered throughout this thread, and I'm especially encouraged by the last day or two's posts. mobilizing the Masses is a noble calling, but sheesh, the inertia issue of getting folks' wide asses off the couch and down to ANY venue is gonna be tough. wish any one of us had all the answers, but even brainstorming such as I've been reading is heartening. I can't remember all the directions this discussion has taken, but I'd argue that the move to borders in tempe will be a worthwhile change. anything comparably proactive others of us can do? I guess I'm feeling a bit grass-rootsy here, but trying to think about what I can offer as a music fan and as a performing musician to help funnel the momentum I've noticed on this board and others (arizonamusicscene.com has had a ton of traffic lately, and things have picked up some on azmusicpulse.com, too) into something tangible. who knows? anyway, see you at borders, long wongs perhaps?

will be there tonight, hope there's a respectable turnout. btw, the Borders show on friday was excellent, kinda an unlikely situation, between the kids section and the computers/business books. aaa sounded great, is all I'm saying. my girlfriend liked the Vin-Fiz t-shirt on the drummer, though, so might have to see if I can secure one of those for her...

I thought that was a rather good event lastnight, I got to meet some new people,
I can put a face on who Skeksis is now. It seems as though alot of people really
want to help improve the scene which is a good thing. I spoke with a guy who basically
said:
"it's up to the musicians to make this scene better, people would rather go dancing
or stay at home, it's up to us to make things better, by going to shows and making it the
cool thing to do, so when one of my friends asks what are you doing tonight I will say
I am going to see this local band tonight you should check it out, after awhile it will
click in his head that it is cool to go check out live local music, we NEED to spread
the disease"

There were definitely alot more people then I was expecting, totally cool.
