My thesis is called the "Black-Emperor-Says Theory" and holds that any any Phoenix-area indie rock festival there is a 100 percent probability that Emperors of Japan, Black Carl, and/or What Laura Says will be on the bill.

My dogs started freaking out. Not used to that kind of yelling so early in the morning. Fuck.yes.
And Tony, you're totally right about the "spasm like he just got shot in the face because somebody bumped into him" thing. It's annoying and I think one of the things that really turns American's off to soccer.

European players started that shit. they love to act. That's why Gasol always looks like a douche (well more of a douche) when he gets fouled.

Seriously, someone coughs in their general direction and they go "MAMMA MIA" and fall to the ground

word. although manu ginobili is the king of this in the nba, and he's from argentina. i think it's safe to say that anyone that's not from the USA/Canada is a monster. i included canada because of steve nash, who is the complete opposite of all this soccer injury bullshit.
and say what you want about kobe (and we have!), at least when he gets fouled he doesn't roll around on the floor like a ninny.
but back to soccer: landon donovan is a pimp. and the goal they disallowed was also BS - he didn't look offsides to me. if we had lost/tied TWO games because of bogus ref calls that would have sucked.

Somebody here tell me how good Ghana is and break down Saturday's matchup for me.
ghana is a terrific attacking side. they are fast, strong and attack very very well. they have world class strikers that are coveted in europe and who have excellent touch on the ball... guys like mensah, aywu and gyan are tough tough marks. that said, their weakness is ultimately defensively where the counter attack can destroy them. germany had more than ample opportunities to capitalize on this but instead missed countless attacks. ozil, the hero for the germans today, missed a couple of wide open one-on-ones with kingston. ghana has the skill level to bring it up the gut and attack in the middle but are more likely to play it wide as they have very fast, accurate footed wingers who can cross the ball very effectively. the united states is not going to stress over it too much, however because they've shown this year to be very good at three particular things: counter attacking (they're excellent at a quick one-two touch and charge), defense (they've been one of the better defensive sides, actually) and coming back from behind (not that it's a good thing that they have to spot their opponents a goal or two all the time but still). ghana will want to start quick and hope our luck runs out. the longer this games goes at 0-0 the better off the US will be, obviously as they get really good once they get in their groove (admittedly a problem for them). defensively, the black stars are going to have their hands full with what is suddenly a very potent offensive attack. 4 goals in group stage isn't bad at all... especially considering a couple of BS disallowed goals and countless of wide open blown chances. this team could have easily put in 7 or 8 in the first 3 games but it's all good.
ghana is tough as all hell and one of my favorite african squads. i always look forward to the Egypt/Ghana games more than anything else. however, they won't get past MURKA.
2-1 USA

if i have to watch one more world cup player fall on the ground and spasm like he just got shot in the face because somebody bumped into him, i'm gonna lose it. you guys are world class athletes, dammit, start acting like you have some balls.
soft, dramatic, pussy euros do not belong in sports.

Manu Ginobali is fully of Italian facists fleeing persecution after WW2 decent.
