after the Minibosses show last night, i have to say that Sherv's homebrew was pretty amazing, and Colin's has some promise too, even though i just got a swig. i think Mig's "Pabst Blue Ribbon" might have topped them all though.

I've now shared my beer with a lot of people and either 1) it's really good or 2) people are good fakers. I'll go with 1 cause I'm quite fond of it myself.

I think Woody managed to take one back but John went home empty handed. I will try and save a bottle or two if i can resist drinking it all (no chance).

I'm definitely hooked. I'm thinking a hefe will be next for me.

i was telling colin my list of priorities (once i find a job), and homebrewing is #4.

I have plans for a skittlebrau!

I'm gonna go for a light beer, a pilsner-esque brew, and once primary fermentation is done I will bottle with skittles as the priming sugar. I imagine I will only need one per bottle but I'm gonna try up to 3.

Chances are this will be a disaster, but I only have plans for a half recipe anyway.

A new beer is afoot -

6 lbs Pale Malt Extract
2 lbs Orange Blossom Honey (Flagstaff in the house!)
.5 lbs Gambrinus Honey Malt
.5 Weyermann Carafoam
8oz Bittersweet Bakers Chocolate
2oz Cascade hops

I had a basic recipe for a honey beer; Ken at the homebrew depot helped me add some shit to it. The Chocolate is my roll of the dice; however, at only 8oz, you probably wont even taste it - it'll just make it 'more smooth'. So they say.

Damn, it smells fucking good.

I'm thinking I need to brew this weekend. Colin is down. While we were talking about brewing, I cracked open one of my last five 16 oz. citrus brews. One thing led to another and now they are all gone except for a single 22 oz bottle. Dammit!

I really want to brew the Oatmeal stout clone, but I'm going to hold off on that until I move and upgrade my equipment. In the meantime, I may try to brew the Cerveza Imperial again. Hopefully this time minus the mold.

I bought some carbonation drops Saturday with the intent on putting them in all my IPAs that didn't carbonate. When they were put in the bottle, the beer immediately foamed over. It was still pretty flat, though, so go figure. Then I cracked open a 22oz bottle (I did 12 or 14 22oz'ers this time) and it was almost fully carbonated. Anyway, I managed to get a cap back on four of the bottles before foaming over, and will let them sit for a week and see how they do. They'll probably be over-carbonated. We shall see.

wow, that stuff works fast, eh? hmmmm

I bought a Party Pig two weeks ago - i'm going to bottle 1/2 and Party Pig the other half. gotta see how it works out. I think i'll pick up some bombers to keep the bottling down to a minimum...

the brown honey brew is bubbling nicely - i hope the cat doesn't chew the airlock off...

Steel City Reserve. It's made with real steel and has pictures of the Pittsburgh Steelers on it sometimes.
