Why bash on anyone?  I am not about bashing, but I will defend my ideas and thoughts when needed.

Yeah, but you said all this shit about Leslie, and it's just not accurate. I'm not sure who you are or where you come from, I feel like maybe you don't know what you're talkin' 'bout. I've been here nearly 27 years, I think I know some shit, I've known a lot of people, and I've seen a lot go down. I think I'm qualified to say you're off base on this one.

'scenes'---if there really is such a thing ever---are about people already motivated, not about 'motivating people'. if you looked around you would see that there are lots of people already motivated and doing stuff here and elsewhere.

What are you doing beside running a venue???

what else does she have to do besides run a venue?
which is a shitload of work? and allows for bands/films/dance/
pretty much any kind of art you can think of to thrive in an
artist friendly venue?

sorry man, you are just preaching to the choir here...
as someone mentioned before, a lot of people on here
have been doing their thing and trying to unite people
for years and years. if you want more unity, more participation,
more people basically - you need to reach out to the people
that just sit on their asses all day, the people that don't
EVER go to shows, the people that come home from work
and plop down on their couches and fall asleep.

it might have seemed better if you had split your
original post into two separate threads, one about
your wanting to unite, the other for the show, but
having them together, it just seems like a plug...
especially since you posted it in the shows and
stuff forum.

Aaron-
I couldn't agree with you more. That is my goal and my intention. And that is what I do. Bu that is the target and the main goal of all of this. I do make the effort to reach these people, and little by little, we are.

Aaron said it all above.

I amnnot trying to make enemies and I am not discrediting anything or anyone who works hard to make our scene stronger, but how people on here do everything out of self-interest. Do you?

Has it been a year already? Is it time to start talking about the scene again?

Time flies.

Your heart's in the right place, H. But, like Aaron said, you're preaching to the choir.
It's like a Cardinal busting into a Conclave and saying, "Holy Shit!! We need to pick a new Pope!!"

No shit.

But you can't give musicians shit for not going to shows. They're practicing, writing new songs,
saving money to go record, or they don't like your band. Either way, their busy.

Why don't more people go to shows? I don't know.

Why does a pouch of Karl Budding ham smell like a fart? I don't know.

And I hear you. We could use a little less shit-talking.

But like Bob says, with none, the shizz wouldn't be as fun. And the shizz wouldn't be the shizz.

The world is a negative place. That is reflected here.

I am not trying to give everyone shit, and if it comes off that offf way, I MUST apolologize. I, as a musician, understand what you are saying. But I am also saying that we as musicians, and artists, should be doing more commuinty-oriented stuff with the platforms we have created. NOt juts doing shows, doing more with the shows. I promise you, as I have stated before, there are new ideas forming here, I just hope all of you are receptive and help us follow through with them. And also, it should be noted that I posted this on the Shizz b/c I know this an internet site that local musicians hit quite frequently, hoping to generate responses. Shows, in thier own right and byy themselves, are sometimes boring b/c of 20 - 30 set changes with nothing going on. We need more...can you dig? ;)

The world does not have to be a negative place...it is ideas like that are roted into your mind-set, not allowing for any-sort of positive progress. I assume that most people in the world today are somewhat open-minded, however, I don't feel as though that negative energy and being super-cynical are the solution. All that does is make us, as young and old Americans, the ugly sterotype that we have world-wide. All I am saying is that we need to change this, our international reputation. I feel as though we are nice people, we just need to work together, not argue with intent to hurt.
