Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life is Calling

Written, directed and produced by Richard Pryor, a semi-autobiographical account of his rise to fame and all of the subsequent consequences.

Complete with self-immolation.

I really dig it.

It's not like it's side-splitting or anything. It honestly reminds me of Kurt Vonnegut's storytelling style. It's just got this weird charm that keeps you enthralled.

I would call this mandatory viewing for any Richard Pryor fans.

Hellboy II - saw it yesterday, it was entertaining enough. I really liked the art direction and creatures in it, Guillermo Del Toro is awesome.

Emperors of Japan
Myspace

My thesis is called the "Black-Emperor-Says Theory" and holds that any any Phoenix-area indie rock festival there is a 100 percent probability that Emperors of Japan, Black Carl, and/or What Laura Says will be on the bill.

i caught the last half of it. i enjoyed it for the most part.
i'm hoping that the "something big" you're waiting for actually happens, and it includes the humvee driver who likes the word "retard" being bisemboweled and sodomized with his own entrails.
or at least something that will make it so i don't have to hear him speak anymore.

but yeah...i'm interested to see where they take the storyline.

even more serious, has anyone been watching Wipeout? It is like Ninja Warrior, except without athletes or skill. I am not saying that makes it bad; it makes it awesome!

Every now and again I get the urge to watch this Ariel Pink video at least twice in a row. He will be in Tucson 8/11.

I think that was kind of the point of that episode. The initial invasion was a whole lot of nothing with everyone just rolling in without much resistance. I'm into the characters.

Thank goodness I have to wait for netflix to send me each disc or I wouldn't get anything done for the next two weeks.

And when I am waiting, I've been in a real Newsradio groove.

Undeclared - a 1 season tv series (on fox I think) by Judd Apatow (ala Freaks and Geeks) - it's pretty funny and has Loudon Wainwright III playing a geeky dad.
