second - the diagram I've pushed so far does a great job of illustrating the 'social network' of the music scene. BUT it doesn't really provide any sense of time, nor active vs defunct projects.

Here's kind of what I was talking about on page 10 - it's a timeline of portable Mac computers:

If there is some sort of connection to Peachcake on here, then I can be on the diagram, because I was in a couple of bands with those dudes in high school. And then Meatwhistle can be on the chart!

I am forced to nominate Gloritone to the chart. You tube Javiar@Long Wongs and tell me we shouldn't make room for some Tim Anthoinese and Scott Hessel and Nick Scoroppos (sp?). Just watch it, they're local and they influenced a wave of Seven Story Mountain / Necronauts (not on the tree by the way) Green Lady Killers, c'mon, let's list the people we actually go see as well as the ones that are egomaniacle enough to type their own histories on the list (oops). A time line would help, and color coding for active or inactive would help people plan nights to go out. Also if the database managers want a challenge, you could rate their charisma by the last show you've seen, I give Cheif Beef a 9.5, cd release, sweet. Emporers of Japan, not represented but maybe they could woop your bands ass, (just sayin').
btw, I'm drunk, but I saw no Skinwalkers, Shane / Lonna / SLUGGER / Pollen / did see Before Braille which is quality, ever heard of Tramps and Thieves, Black Moods? This chart has got to have the range to include casual Shizzies as well, they don't all know they can type their name on the spreadsheet, yo.

Peachcake is connected to Osama Bin Sars, which is connected to Landmine Marathon :)

So is Robin the 'Kevin Bacon' of this game, or what? I think Arp has more bands under his belt. Who would be more relatable?

Could we make this into a board game?

did i spell relatable right?

Why do i have so many questions?

Ok, so I ran the graph using one measure of network centrality ("betweenness") to set the size of the nodes.

One way of measuring 'relatability' per fatguyaz.

Basically, it counts the number of times a node occurs between two other nodes. By this measure, aaron b and a couple bands he's been involved with are the 'center' of the network.

Alternately, if you use "degree" to measure centrality, (which is related to the # of bands on your personal list), robin v, matt m, and jeremy a are the top tier.

see below :-)

this is starting to look really great.
One idea about organizing it, could we set the date bands played their first show, and then maybe branch off those somehow, or have a couple different acts intersect?
I think a straight up "tree style" would be visually dull, but the way it is coming together right now looks awesome.

BTW: Stefan from Peachcake was in a short lived band (really great metal) called "Drawing Down the Sun" with Greg Colsen (?spelling?) who later evolved into a couple of different project (names anyone, anyone?).
There could be a connection there if need be.

My computer keeps killing internet explorer every time I go to the app to add my stuff. May need to go someplace else to input data.

So, through Peachcake we can add Enemy of Society, a bad I was in with Stefan, and then Meatwhistle can be added. Also, Eric Dahl, who is currently in Sonorous, used to drum for Meatwhistle. He also used to be in Liar's Club and The Generiks.

There was the drummer before TenderLad, I think his name was Scott who also played in Graves at Sea
