read some fox sports opinion piece on those things last night. i'm not a fan either. i remember hearing them while flipping through the channels awhile back. must've been a game there or in south america where they use a different kind of horn with the same result. annoying as hell. i remember thinking, "what the hell is that noise?" i mean, you'd think people would get tired of blowing into those things at some point. for sporting events here, we chant, whistle, clap, etc.. but not for 90mins straight.

the stanley cup beats the shit out of any other trophy in any other sport.

from a trophy only standpoint, nothing even comes close.

why? IT'S THE ORIGINAL MOTHERFUCKING TROPHY. it gets handed town from team to team, and the winners names are etched into it. AND every person on the winning team gets to take it home for a week. compare that to, say, every other trophy in the world and there's nothing like it.

also, the trophy presentation beats the hell out of the other sports as well.

switching gears, i'm not a soccer hater - just want to clear that up. i watched a ton of the last world cup and i'll probably do the same this time around. but i'd say i'm roughly 1/20th as excited about the world cup as i am about day 1 of march madness. oh, and i will never understand why anybody riots over soccer games. their lives must be more empty than people who don't eat meat.

lol, it's all in the spirit of competition.

i like the world cup trophy, better than the one they had before, which was just some shitty cup looking thing with some lady on it. but since this thing is made out of pure gold, nobody gets to take it home, they touch it, hold it up to celebrate after the final game, blah blah blah, then they get a replica to take back to their country. the bottom of the real one has every country who's ever won it etched to it.

one of my favorites is "old big ears" or the UEFA Champions League trophy, the team's name gets etched into it right after the final whistle is blown, i love it.
