Then again, I know when I'm wrong, and if I was proven wrong it would be a new insight to me. So at that point I would use the new information to look at things from a different of view.

WORD TO THE MAX!

oh my gosh..i just spent all this time scrolling down and reading about how you guys support nader, but still, noone has really said WHY WHY WHY do you support this guy? just cuz he's the "alternative" choice to the 2 party system? cuz he's the radical one? logically, how can a guy this outside of the political spectrum create a cabinet and work cohesively with congress and all the other lawmakers that aren't quite so "alternative" as mr. ralph nader? i'm GLAD GLAD GLAD that he is off the ballot. i hope that the other 49 states follow arizona's lead and check EVERY single one of nader's illegal signatures...

i really just want to know why all you nader lovers think he's so awesome. is he awesome enough to watch george w. trash this country for another 4 awful years? maybe you really don't think george w. is all that bad.

if you'd read all the posts
in this thread you'd go to
the stinkin links that have been
referenced many times and see
where he stands on all the issues
and he's the candidate i most agree with.
if i agreed more with bush, i would vote
for bush. i don't fucking care about
how many goddamn parties there
are etc etc etc. i do like though how
the end of your post betrays your
true intentions...you don't care about
why i would vote for nader, you're just
pissed i'm not voting for kerry.

i'm sorry, maybe i missed the links you referenced to...i got a little bored. and no, i'm certainly not asking you to vote for george W. , why would i ever? you can vote for the candidate that you think will best serve the people of this country. just remember that your vote has consequences.

and yes, it does make me angry that people like you are considering write-ins for nader. is that ok? can i be a little pissed? these are messed up times. i think george W. is one of the problems, i'm trying to eliminate that. i guess it feels like the nader supporters are totally working against all of us that have been dedicated to the democratic party. (is that bad, to be a democrat?)

ya know, we're kind of on the same team here. i'm sure your belief system isn't too far off from mine...i'm just trying to be pragmatic about it.

it's not bad to be a democrat...
but to get pissed off at someone
for voting for a write-in...

if you read this whole thread what you
will see are democrats and independents
complaining about people voting for
nader...if you're really that worried,
instead of worrying about nader why
don't you work on the people voting for
bush...that would seem to make more
sense...take one vote away from him
and add one to kerry...that's a gain of 2
votes spread overall...

it all comes down to - i don't want
bush in office, i don't want kerry in
office, i want nader in office, so i'm
going to vote for nader.

Having been gone for 2 weeks, there's no way I can read all this at once and have any hope of digesting it. However, I do want to throw my opinions into the mix because there are a lot of things written that bother me.

The first thing I'd like to say is that your vote is what you want it to be. I have no problem with people voting based on principle or using the vote as an anti-vote. Understanding how your vote impacts things is an important part of voting. As long as we have an electoral college system and other rules surrounding political parties and funding, you should cast your vote with that in mind. If you want to vote for the candidate you like best, fine. If you want to vote for a candidate in hopes that a 3rd party gets more federal support, fine. If you want to vote for a guy because you fear the likely opponent, also fine. A vote is your expression and the only rules you have to follow are the ones written by Congress.

Point 2, the lesser of 2 evils arguement and the 2 party system in general is an overblown complaint. There will never be a party or a candidate that I agree with on 100% of the issues. We are all individuals and have individual ideas. The fact is that you have to settle at some point. By and large, the 2 party system covers a wide representation of most people's stances on issues. Sometimes it is frustrating to make that call, but at some point everyone has to settle on what will be for the greater good. There's this whole backlash out there these days that I sometimes feel like I'm judged for being a registered democrat. I think it's all overblown.

Point 3, Kerry will be a force for change if elected. There are issues and stances that Kerry has that I don't agree with and wish would be different. However, in my opinion he has the best track record for creating positive change in the current system of any of the 3 candidates. There were many stances that Bill Clinton had/has that I do not support (capital punishment, dishonesty, etc). However, in his 8 years in office he did a great deal to create new social programs, resurrect the economy, fight terrorism, negotitate international peace treaties, help the poor, educational funding, and many other things. You don't have to be perfect to be a good president. I believe Kerry has the ability to do a lot of good, or at the least undo a lot of bad of the past 4 years.

I had a client yesterday who didn't know how to register to vote, didn't know how to vote, didn't know who was running, and didn't realize that unless someone else was voted in, that the same guy stays in office. She said she didn't want the 'same guy' to stay in, but had no interest in voting.

It made me sad. I find this quite common, even among my co-workers. :(

Bush, President George W. - Republican  (13%)

I'm gonna figure out what 13% that is and seriously question my beliefs.

same boat here,

I was 21% Bush.......

but I'm comfortable with that, some of the possible answers are pretty black or white, and my views seemed to fall in the gray on many of the issues..... I think it's the poll is good in this way, sometimes feel that we choose our candidates for emotional/social reasons and then try to back it up with logic, as opposed to looking at the issues, and following them to the candidate that most represents those..... I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, and if I was I'd feel as suspect as anyone.

if you feel like publicizing it, what were your others? I only gave myself the option of Bush Vs. Kerry, but I'm going to redo it without those limitations and see what else happens....
